SIP Softphone (AVAYA)

The Avaya SIP Softphone transforms Windows-based PCs into SIP-based collaboration endpoints. Users are able to make, receive and handle voice calls, send instant messages to one another and track each others' presence using an intuitive graphical user interface. SIP Softphone leverages the industry-standard nature of SIP and operates in three modes; with Avaya SIP Enablement Services as part of a complete Avaya SIP solution; with 3rd-party SIP Proxy Servers and endpoints that are IETF RFC 3261 compliant; and in peer-to-peer mode with no SIP infrastructure.

This IP Telephony and Instant Messaging client for Windows-based PCs is the initial commercially-available version of the Avaya SIP Softphone. It supports the industry-standard SIP protocol and is IETF RFC 3261 compliant.  It operates in three modes - as a peer to peer  SIP endpoint; as SIP client for 3rd party SIP proxy servers, and as an important element of the Avaya SIP Solution Portfolio featuring SIP Enablement Services(providing SIP proxy and registration services) and Communication Manager (providing telephony feature services).  It has an intuitive user interface for enterprise telephony, instant messaging and presence tracking and notification.
